Abstract

Professional ethics is one of the most important foundations for regulating human conduct in occupational and organizational environments and can directly influence professional relationships, social trust, administrative integrity, accountability, and organizational effectiveness. From the perspective of the Holy Qur’an, professional activity is not merely an economic or technical undertaking, but a dimension of human moral responsibility and a sphere for the realization of divine and human values. The present study aims to explain the foundations, principles, and functions of professional ethics from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an through a descriptive-analytical method based on library research. The findings indicate that Qur’anic professional ethics is grounded in fundamental principles such as monotheism, human dignity, freedom of choice, responsibility, justice, and trustworthiness. On this basis, honesty, fulfillment of commitments, fairness, accountability, meritocracy, professional competence, discipline, tolerance, cooperation, transparency, avoidance of corruption, respect for the rights of others, and social and environmental responsibility can be regarded as major components of professional ethics. The Qur’anic approach also demonstrates that professional ethics cannot be reduced to individual virtues alone, since organizational structures, managerial practices, evaluation systems, power relations, and accountability mechanisms significantly affect ethical behavior. Institutionalizing these principles can strengthen trust, reduce corruption, improve organizational justice, enhance service quality, promote cooperative behavior, and reinforce social capital. Overall, the Holy Qur’an provides the foundations for a comprehensive and coherent model of professional ethics in which individual moral development, organizational integrity, and social responsibility are simultaneously emphasized.
